I am planning to go to a D1 High School as a Soph next year and I already know they have a really good team. The position I play is Nose-Tackle or Defensive-Tackle. Since they run a 4-3, I will be playing Defensive-Tackle I suppose. As of now during the wrestling season I am walking around 195-198 depending on the day, I cut down to 189 so I have to say there for around 1 more month. But I am 6'1/2" to 6'1" right now, Bench 205, I don't know how much I can squat, but I did Muay Thai for 5 years and I know I have very strong legs, and such. How much weight should I put on to be at the standards I need to be to play JV at that school next year. One of the DT's are 6'3", Lower 200's, Benches 355, and squats around 400 right now. So that is around the caliber I need to get it. What is the best Diet I should follow, also, what is the best protein shake to drink?
Answer on How much should the average D1 High School Defensive Tackle be? High, Weigh. JV & Var. D-Line Diet+?
You're a good size to just be a rising sophmore in high school. Contrary to popular belief, being big doesn't make you a good lineman!! A small guy with great technique will beat a big guy with poor technique on any given day. It sounds like you just need to get stronger, you're on the right track though. Hit the weight room hard and you should be ok. Just use something like creatine, that should do the job. Ask the football coach about your lifting.
